Red Mage

Red Mages are capable of using both white and black magic, and adept at physical combat.

Mysidia, Nation of Magic

Adepts of Mysidia with talent for physical combat oftentimes end up being Red Mages.

Baron, Military Nation

Baron is an ideal place to receive both martial and magical training. Because the military favors specialists for each division, Red Mages are usually forced into either the Army Corps, Dark Knight Corps, Black Mage Corps, or White Mage Corps.

Damcyan, Nation of Trade

A fair amount of Red Mages have found themselves in the mix of different practices in this hub of trade.

Daggers, Light Armor

Axes, Blades, Bows, Clubs, Polearms, Rods, Staves, Whips, Robes, Heavy Armor, Doublehand, Shields

Melee Combat

Every Red Mage is different, and they all focus on their combat skills to varying degrees, though usually not to the extent of physical fighters like the Dragoon and Warrior.

Limitation: Trade-offs

Though combat feats can be used as often as you like, there usually is some sort of trade-off, such as lower accuracy or damage than a normal attack.

Black Magic

Though Black Mages are better at it, Red Mages can still learn the same kinds of Black Magic spells as they can.

Limitation: Mana (MP)

Black Magic spells expend MP.

White Magic

A Red Mage can practice as much or as little of their White Magic spells as they like, though usually not as much as White Mages.

Limitation: Mana (MP)

White Magic spells expend MP.

Magic Weapon

By channeling magic into their weapon, the Red Mage can enhance it with various effects, such as elemental damage or leeching MP.

Limitation: Mana (MP)

Enchanting a weapon usually expends MP.
